AP Calc BC Unit 9 Comprehensive Review Resources

AP Calc Unit 9 Review Intro

Welcome to the Unit 9 AP Calc BC review! You’ve almost made it. Although this unit is BC only, it’s actually one of the easier ones in my opinion. We’ll be going over parametric equations, vectors, and polar equations. These terms seem fancy, but it’s not as bad as it seems, especially with the following carefully curated collection of resources below!

1. Review Presentation

The first item on our list of AP Calc BC Unit 9 Review items is a quick presentation I made including the main ideas of each topic of the CED with examples from Khan Academy/Flipped math. This is supposed to be a quick and easy review to remind yourself of some of the essential concepts in the Unit. However, don’t rely on this resource since you need to practice your skills by doing some practice problems yourself!

(+) Good refresher with worked practice problems following the CED

(-) Surface level review; more practice required

2. Flipped Math

Good old Algebros. You know them, you love them, they’re a fantastic resource! For an in-depth teaching experience, you can watch one of their lecture videos and follow along with their packets. They have topic-specific as well as general unit reviews. I recommend attempting the general unit review first and then doing the packets/corrective assignments for the troublesome topics.

(+) Organized according to the CED, AP Style Questions, lots of practice; packets for note-taking

3. IITian Academy

An unknown reason with real AP-style questions, IITian Academy offers MCQs and FRQs for all AP Calc topics. It’s particularly useful if you have run out of other practice questions and want some harder ones, just like the AP Classroom quizzes/progress checks. This website also offers a ton of other reviews for AP subjects (It’s saved me in AP Bio multiple times). I recommend this website for students who already know what they’re doing and want extra difficult practice similar to what the AP exam will ask.

(+) Actual AP Questions organized by the CED

(-) Answers are not explained thoroughly sometimes; only practice questions

4. Loops of Learning Tutoring

Learn from students just like you who have gotten an A in AP Calc throughout the year! Sign up through this link for further information on getting tutored for free, 100% online.

5. Paul's Online Notes

Paul’s Online Notes is an absolute goldmine for Calculus resources in general. Each topic has three pages: one explaining the topic in-depth with examples (he explains really well), some practice questions, and additional assignment problems. This resource is amazing for those who need an in-depth explanation of certain topics but don’t want to go through long video lectures that might not even explain the topic at all (I’m one of those people). However, it’s not modelled around the AP Calc framework so it might be difficult to find some topics. For this reason, I linked each topic according to the CED here! The resources for vectors are a bit confusing, so I excluded them.

6. Mr. Yang's Teacher Website

Mr. Yang’s Teacher Website is another resource with note-taking packets and several sets of practice questions for each topic Unit 9. It follows the CED and has videos you can follow along with to learn the topics in-depth!

(+) In-depth notes, videos, and AP-style practice problems according to the CED

7. Kranish AP Calculus

Kranish AP Calculus is another similar and useful resource containing note-taking packets and handouts/assignments. However, it is not organized according to the CED, making the website a bit confusing to navigate. Unit 11 on Kranish is Unit 9 on the Calc CED, which is linked below. In addition, videos are not uploaded for the note packets, making it difficult to follow along with the packets at home. However, the handout assignments are quite useful as extra practice problems.

(+) Useful handouts and assignments with AP-style questions

(-) Loosely organized on the CED, no video lectures

Conclusion

Good luck! AP Calc is not easy, so make sure to study hard and smart with these resources. Let me know through the Loops of Learning tutoring form or by emailing me at dianamoya@rivieraschools.com for more info!
